Just unveiled during the To Your Eternity Opens in a new tab panel at Anime NYC, a new documentary titled The Roots of To Your Eternity will be available to stream on Crunchyroll worldwide, excluding Japan, starting August 29, 2025. It offers a behind-the-scenes look at the creation of the series before the series returns for its third season in October 2025, also streaming on CrunchyrollOpens in a new tab.
The documentary will feature interviews with manga author Yoshitoki Oima, Season 2 director and Season 3 chief director Kiyoko Sayama, and more. Narrated by Kenjiro Tsuda, the original voice of the Watcher, the documentary will feature footage from previous arcs to introduce the arc set in a contemporary era. Along with this announcement, it was also revealed that the band Perfume will perform the new opening theme song.

Yoshitoki Oima’s manga “Fumetsu no Anata he” was pre-published from September 2016 to June 2025 in Kodansha’s Weekly Shônen Magazine, with 25 volumes released in Japan as of August 12, 2025. In France, the manga is published by Pika Édition, with 23 volumes available as of June 18, 2025.
Based on Yoshitoki Oima’s critically acclaimed fantasy manga, Season 2 of “To Your Eternity” was directed by Kiyoko Sayama (Skip Beat!, Brave 10) at Studio Drive, with story composition by Shinzo Fujita, character designs by Koji Yabuno, and music by Ryo Kawasaki. The first season was directed by Masahiko Murata and produced by the animation studio Brain’s Base.
The 20 episodes of the first season aired from April to August 2021, and the 20 episodes of the second season aired from October 2022 to March 2023 on Crunchyroll. Production on the third season was announced shortly after the final episode of season 2 aired.
