Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinite Fortress Becomes Japan’s 6th Highest-Grossing Film

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba: The Infinite Fortress continues to climb the all-time Japanese box office charts, adding 4.4 billion yen to its box office revenue since last week to become the sixth-highest-grossing film of all time in Japan. The new anime sequel to Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba also opened in Taiwan this weekend, the first country to release it outside of Japan, with new records being broken there as well.

As of August 11, 2025, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba: The Infinite Fortress has grossed 22.07 billion yen (€127.95 million) in 25 days from 15.69 million tickets sold, according to the series’ official social media channels. Infinite Fortress has taken sixth place at the all-time Japanese box office, previously held by ONE PIECE FILM: RED, and is now just 3 billion yen behind fifth place, held by the film Your Name. In addition, Infinite Fortress is now the fourth highest-grossing Japanese animated film.

In Taiwan, the first territory outside Japan to screen the film, its August 8, 2025 release grossed $46.9 million Taiwanese (€1.34 million), becoming the seventh-best opening of any film in the country, according to The Liberty Times. Distributor Muse announced on Instagram that The Infinite Fortress has so far grossed $170 million Taiwanese (€4.86 million), beating Mugen Train’s $117 million Taiwanese opening weekend. It is also now the best-selling animated film in the country.

The adaptation of Koyoharu Gotoge’s manga, originally published in Weekly Shônen Jump by Shueisha from February 2016 to May 2020. In France, all 23 volumes of the manga were published by Panini.

Tanjiro Kamado joined a demon-hunting organization, the Demon Slayers, after his younger sister Nezuko was transformed into a demon.

Growing stronger and closer to the other members of the army, Tanjirō confronts numerous demons alongside his comrades, Zen’itsu Agatsuma and Inosuke Hashibira. His adventures have led him to fight alongside the highest-ranking fighters of the Demon Slayer Army, the Pillars, such as the Flame Pillar, Kyōjurō Rengoku, on the Infinity Train, the Sound Pillar, Tengen Uzui, in the Pleasure District, as well as the Mist Pillar, Muichirō Tokitō, and the Love Pillar, Mitsuri Kanrōji, in the Blacksmith Village.

While the Demon Slayer Army and the Pillars were practicing during a training session in preparation for the upcoming confrontation with the demons, Muzan Kibutsuji appeared at the Ubuyashiki Mansion. With the army leader in danger, Tanjiro and the Pillars rush to the headquarters, but fall into a trap set by Muzan Kibutsuji and find themselves trapped deep within a mysterious space.

Tanjiro and the rest of the Demon Slayer Army are teleported to the Demon Stronghold: the Infinite Fortress. There, the final battle between the Demon Slayer Army and the Demonic forces will ignite.
